🇺🇸@COVID19Up: On Saturday, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by 117 Houston Methodist staff over the hospital’s policy requiring that every employee is vaccinated against COVID-19.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes said taking the COVID-19 vaccine is not like being part of a clinical trial, nor is it experimental.
The judge noted in the ruling that the U.S. government has advised that businesses can require employees to get COVID-19 vaccines.
“This is not coercion,” Hughes said. “Methodist is trying to do their business of saving lives without giving them the COVID-19 virus. It is a choice made to keep staff, patients and their families safer.”
This is the first federal court ruling on a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
