🇺🇳@COVID19Up: Since 2010, Google has funded virus research carried out by Peter Daszak and his charity, EcoHealth Alliance. Now, Daszak has been removed from a UN-backed commission examining the origins of COVID-19.

UN-backed Lancet COVID-19 Commission has updated the profiles of its members, revealing that the president of EcoHealth Alliance—which directed hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grant money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology—Peter Daszak had been “recused” from working on the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

Vanity Fair reported earlier this month that Dazsak helped organize a Feb 2020 statement signed by leading scientists that appeared in The Lancet. The statement condemned “conspiracy theories suggesting that COVID-19 does not have a natural origin” and claimed “solidarity with all scientists and health professionals in China.”

Two months after the statement was published, Daszak emailed Dr. Fauci thanking him for supporting the theory that SARS-CoV-2 naturally jumped from animals to humans and did not leak out of the Wuhan lab.

“I just wanted to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators, for publicly standing up and stating that the scientific evidence supports a natural origin for COVID-19 from a bat-to-human spillover, not a lab release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” Daszak wrote on April 18, 2020.
